Is Your Phone Controlling Your Life?

We have handed over so much of our attention and energy to our phones that it's easy to forget the world around us.

As I walk along the shoreline, I often notice people completely absorbed in their screens—walking or sitting with their heads down, missing the beauty and magic unfolding right in front of them. Our devices were designed to connect us, yet so often they leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, from nature, and from one another.

I understand because one evening I found myself doing exactly the same thing.

What began as a quick look at social media turned into an hour of endless scrolling. Before I knew it, I had been pulled into an endless stream of distressing stories and negative headlines. The more I scrolled, the heavier I felt. My mind became overwhelmed, my heart felt burdened, and by the end of it I experienced a sharp pain in my chest. I couldn't sleep.

It was then I realised just how addictive social media can be. Like any addiction, it quietly draws you in until you lose track of time, your energy, and your sense of peace.

Whether the stories we consume are about war, environmental destruction, injustice, political conflict, or human suffering, constant exposure to fear and negativity can leave us anxious, exhausted, and disconnected from our own inner wisdom.

There is no doubt our world is facing many challenges. But if we allow ourselves to become consumed by fear, we lose the very thing the world needs most—our presence, our compassion, and our light.

I realised I couldn't carry the weight of the world on my shoulders. I cannot change everything that is happening, but I can choose how I respond to it.

So I returned to the practices that always bring me home.

How I restored my energy:

1. Meditation
I imagined a beautiful golden light from the Creator flowing through the crown of my head, filling my mind with peace before allowing it to flow through every part of my body.

2. Grounding
I visualised golden roots growing from my feet deep into the heart of the Earth Mother, anchoring me in her loving, healing energy.

3. Surrender
I consciously released all fear, anxiety, and heaviness to the Earth Mother, asking her to transmute it into love and healing.

4. Breath and Presence
Standing barefoot on the earth, I breathed deeply, allowing her energy to wash through my body and release anything that was not mine or no longer served my highest good.

Affirmation

"All energies that are not mine, or that no longer serve my highest good, I now return to the Creator to be transmuted into love for the Earth Mother's healing."

Ways to Reclaim Your Energy

  • Spend time in nature without your phone.

  • Leave your phone at home when you go for a walk.

  • Watch uplifting movies that make you laugh.

  • Listen to music that nourishes your soul.

  • Ground yourself with the Earth each day.

  • Cleanse your home and energy in a way that is meaningful to you.

  • Be mindful of the thoughts you entertain and the words you speak, because they shape your experience of the world.

  • Make space every day for stillness, gratitude, and genuine human connection.

Our phones are incredible tools, but they should never become our masters.

Every moment you choose to put your phone down and reconnect—with nature, your breath, your loved ones, and your own heart—is a step towards freedom.

The greatest source of wisdom will never be found on a screen.

It has always existed within you.

The world does not need more people trapped in endless scrolling. It needs people who are present, grounded, compassionate, and awake.

Choose to protect your peace.

Choose to reconnect.

Choose to be the light.
