Never put anyone on a pedestal

Sooner or later they are bound to fall. You are your own Guru. No one can promise you anything, for you are responsible for your world and no one else.

Don’t get me wrong, there are great teachers out there who teach us how to question and inspire us to search for the truth and think for ourselves.

I was blessed to meet one such teacher in Guatemala who once told me:
“As I am here to teach you, you are here to teach me. We are both students and teaches in the web of life.

We all need guidance, but that does not make a teacher better then you. Think twice before giving your power away, as most people calling themselves “Gurus” are nothing more then ego-driven maniacs feeding on people’s insecurities and their need to be loved. There is a huge difference between talking the talk and walking the walk. Just because one labels him or herself as spiritual or a Guru, it does not mean they are also honourable beings. In fact, a true Guru has no need for labels.

You must question everything until you find what sits true in your heart. There is no right or wrong way. All paths lead to the same destination sooner or later.

In 2015, I was blessed to meet my greatest inspiration, Don Miguel Ruiz. His teachings made sense and his books always appeared to me at the right time. They are a form of healing.

After meeting Don Miguel at a workshop in Sydney, I knew I had to see him once more. I travelled to Mexico to attend one of his workshops with his son.

It was during this time at the ancient ruins of Toltec civilisation that all the pieces of the puzzle started to come together for me. The game of life started to make sense.

Toltec means artist.

Imagine a city filled with artists, musicians, poets, healers, astrologers, shamans, architects etc. The Toltec teachings went underground when apprentices became corrupted with ego, when there were invasions and so on. For centuries the teachings were passed down through blood lines. Don Miguel Ruiz ancestors come from one of these bloodlines.

The teachings spoke of a time, a time of need, when Toltec wisdom would return to the people. That time is now.
I highly recommend you read Don Miguel Ruiz’ book “The Four Agreements” if you haven’t already done so. It is an excellent starting point.

The Four Agreements are as follows:

  1. Be impeccable with your word

  2. Do not take things personally

  3. Do not make assumptions

  4. Always do your best

The Fifth Agreement states “Be skeptical but learn to listen.”

With so much propaganda inflicted upon us, so many broken promises, so many beliefs, how do you know what is real?

I would like to share with you the last thing Don Miguel said to me before leaving Mexico.
He said “Whatever you do Christina, never allow anyone to place suggestions in you.”

At the end of the day who’s truth is it, and what makes it right?
